COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – Charges have been laid in a Coquitlam homicide.

Jarek Paderewski has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his sister, 33-year-old Maja Paderewska.

Her body was found inside of a home on Panorama Drive yesterday. She was a business teacher at North Surrey Secondary School.

One of her students, 17-year-old Alex, says Paderewska was his favorite teacher for the past three years. “If you every had a question, or needed homework help, or just needed help with life in general, she was always there. She always had a big smile on her face and was willing to help anybody.”

“From a teaching standpoint, I have never had a teacher that spent as much individual time with her students as she did. She had the respect of the classroom, everyone at our school liked her,” adds Alex.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Paderewski was not known to police.
