NHL releases 2014/15 schedule

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – The National Hockey League released it’s full schedule for the upcoming season, and the Vancouver Canucks will have a few dates to circle on the calendar.

After a seven game preseason that begins September 23rd, Vancouver will kick off the 82 game journey October 8th in Calgary against the Flames. The home opener at Rogers Arena will follow on October 11th with the Edmonton Oilers paying a visit.

Vancouver will play 29 games against Pacific Division opponents in ’14/15. The defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings make their first trip to Vancouver on New Years Day.
Other home dates of note include the return of Roberto Luongo and the Florida Panthers one week later on January 8th. Sidney Crosby and the Penguins will visit February 7th, while the Boston Bruins come to town on February 13th.

Visits from the Montreal Canadiens (Oct. 30th) Toronto Maple Leafs (March 14th) and Washington Capitals (Oct. 26th) are included.

Vancouver’s longest homestand is a six game stretch from January 27th to February 7th. The longest road trip for the club spans seven games from November 28th to December 9th.
