Injuries after ammonia leak at PoCo Lilydale plant

PORT COQUITLAM (NEWS1130) – An ammonia leak has forced the Lilydale plant on Kingsway in Port Coquitlam to close.
Two people have been taken to hospital.
Fire chief Nick Delmonico says the injuries are minor. “One was having difficulty breathing. The other one has got some minor irritation and small chemical burns.”
“On scene, we found a broken ammonia line that was leaking hazardous ammonia into the building,” says Delmonico, who adds the leak has been stopped.
The building is being vented. It’s not clear when it will reopen.
