Student dies in Abbotsford school stabbing

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS 1130) – One of the young women stabbed at Abbotsford Senior Secondary Tuesday has succumbed to her injuries.

Officers were called to the school shortly after 2 p.m.

Both victims, students at the school, were immediately taken to hospital and their families were notified.

Abbotsford Senior Secondary, as well as Abbotsford Middle School, were locked down as police took a young man into custody.

Police could not give an update on if he was a student at the school, his age, or his name.

Abbotsford Police Chief Bob Rich says the second victim remains in stable condition. A video was posted to YouTube showing the stabbing. The website has taken the video down but investigators are asking anyone who may have a copy of the video to stop sharing it.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team will take over the case.

Abbotsford Secondary School will be closed tomorrow, but councilors will be made available to students and staff.
