Late-night shooting in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood under investigation

The Surrey Police Service (SPS) is investigating a late-night shooting that left one man injured in Surrey’s Whalley neighbourhood on Friday.

Police say officers were called to a residence near 88th Ave. and 127th St. at approximately 11:45 p.m. for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The suspect had already fled the area before police arrived.

BC Emergency Health Services transported the victim to hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released information about the victim’s condition.

The investigation has been taken over by the SPS Major Crime Section. While the case remains in its early stages, detectives believe the shooting was targeted and have indicated it does not appear to be related to extortion activity.

No suspect information has been released, and investigators are continuing to gather evidence.

Anyone with information related to the incident is encouraged to contact SPS.
