Ted Rogers among new Canada Walk of Fame inductees

TORONTO, ON. (NEWS 1130) – Canada’s Walk of Fame has announced six new 2017 inductees which, it says, represents its five pillars of recognition: Sports and Athletics, Philanthropy and Humanities, Arts and Entertainment, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Science and Technology.
The names include Donovan Bailey, Viola Desmond, Anna Paquin, David Suzuki, Stompin’ Tom Connors, and Ted Rogers — the Founder, President and CEO of Rogers Communications, the parent company of NEWS 1130.
Rogers has been identified as representing the pillar of Business and Entrepreneurship. He long believed in the power of potential new technologies to educate, entertain and improve lives, and started the media and telecommunications company in 1960.
Referred to as a communications pioneer, Rogers was inducted into Canada’s Telecommunications Hall of Fame in 2006, and was the first Canadian to be entered in the Cable Hall of Fame in Colorado four years earlier.
He died in 2008.
These six individuals are set to be inducted to the Walk of Fame at the annual event on Nov. 15 in Toronto.
