White supremacist posters surface at University of Victoria

VICTORIA (NEWS 1130) – White supremacists are suspected of putting up posters promoting anti-Semitism at the University of Victoria campus.

Daniel Koren with B’nai Brith Canada says the flyers are similar to slogans chanted during a torchlight rally in Charlottesville, Virginia that ended with the death of one protester in August.

“Whenever we hear of something like this taking place, especially on a university campus, we’re are definitely concerned that poster is an obvious nod to the chants, ‘Jews will not replace us.” Clearly [it’s] not subtle.”

Koren adds university administrators are working with police to track down who’s responsible for the posters which provided links to white supremacist websites. “It listed links to known Neo-Nazi and far-right websites. As this literally just took place, we were in touch with the university right away and we understand the investigation is ongoing.”

The posters were exposed by a group called Anti-Racist Action UVic.
