Searchers looking for small plane, two people missing near Revelstoke

VICTORIA – Searchers are looking for a plane and its two occupants after the aircraft went missing during a flight from Penticton to Edmonton.
The Victoria Joint Rescue Co-Ordination Centre says the single-engine aircraft took off from Penticton around 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
She says a friend of someone on board reported the plane missing around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night. The identities of the people on board have not been released.
A CH-149 Cormorant from the 442 Transport and Rescue Squadron based in Comox has joined a pair of Parks Canada choppers to search near Revelstoke.
Searchers have been scouring the area after the pilot’s cellphone pinged a tower northeast of Revelstoke.
Two Parks Canada helicopters, a charter helicopter and a military helicopter from a base in Comox searched the area on Sunday, but low clouds kept four other aircraft from joining the efforts.
