SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Many people are disgusted and dismayed to hear about an attack on a 61-year-old woman by a couple on a bus in Surrey last week that apparently left the victim with a cracked sternum and broken arm.
Police have called this a “vicious assault.”
Anne Drennan with Transit Police says the force has received several tips about who the man and woman might be. “We’ve had people contact us and advise that they’re shocked that something so violent would happen over nothing more than a bus seat.”
Transit Police say the victim was shoved off a seat then — after trying to take a picture of the couple — she was grabbed by the hair and her head and chest was banged multiple times on a metal handrail.
The couple apparently also took her phone and smashed it on the ground.
“People have said to us, ‘Please make sure that you do everything possible to find out who these people are and see that they get charged.’ Of course, that’s what our investigators are going to do,” explains Drennan.
Transit Police have released photos and video footage of the suspects in the hopes that someone can help identify them.
“We’ve had several people call in with tips as to who these people might possibly be. Our investigators are following up on these leads and we hope for some success in the next day or so,” says Drennan.
The suspects are described as:
- South Asian female, 30 to 35 years, 5’6” tall, medium build, long black hair in a messy ponytail, bad teeth, wearing a purple/maroon jacket with fur trimmed hood, patterned leggings, purple
socks and black shoes. - South Asian male, 30 to 35 years, 5’10” tall, short dark hair, beard and moustache, wearing an olive green hoodie with a light circle shaped logo on the chest and a bright coloured hood lining, black shorts, black shoes and carrying a red “GoodLife Fitness” duffle bag.
