NEWS 1130 wins prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award for ‘Your Vote 2017’

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – We are pleased to share that NEWS 1130 has been recognized with a prestigious award for our coverage of the 2017 BC election.

The Radio Television Digital News Association has awarded NEWS 1130 the 2018 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Best Continuing Coverage for “Your Vote 2017 — What Now?”

Last year’s election was one that involved a complicated political situation, and our team worked hard to help people across the province navigate it. We are proud to be recognized by the RTDNA, which considers our work the best in Canada last year.

This award comes on the heels of NEWS 1130 winning the RTDNA Canada Charlie Edwards Award for breaking news coverage of last year’s dump truck crash, as well as Bill Good being honoured with the Sam Ross Award for his editorial, A Minute with Bill Good.

The Murrow Awards are the embodiment of the values, principles and standards set forth by Edward R. Murrow, a journalism pioneer who set the standards for the highest quality of broadcast journalism.

Murrow Award winning stories put public interest above all else, provide a catalyst for public discussion, and adhere to the RTDNA Code of Ethics.
