Prince George mom looking for missing son prank-called about his death

PRINCE GEORGE (NEWS 1130) – A Prince George mom, desperate to find her 16-year-old son, has been dealt a cruel blow after someone pretending to be a police officer told her her son had been found dead.

On Tuesday, Phyllis Fleury says she woke up to a phone call, with someone on the other end saying her son had been found dead at a Vancouver schoolyard.

“I got a phone call from what I understand right now was a prank caller,” Fleury said on a video she posted on Facebook. “He said he was from Vancouver Police.

Her son, Colten Fleury, went missing back in May and is believed to be in the Vancouver area.

“People are cruel.”

But it was not until she reached out to RCMP that she found out it was a hoax. She is calling the hours before she discovered the truth the “hardest two hours” of her life.

“I can’t believe what they did to me,” Fleury continues to say. “Now more than ever do I need my son home.”

RCMP and Vancouver Police are stressing that they rarely contact a loved one about a death in the family over the phone.

Colton is described as 5’ 8” tall, with brown eyes and brown hair, and might have been spotted in Vancouver’s Oppenheimer Park.
