Two-car crash in Surrey’s Guildford leaves driver dead, another in hospital

SURREY (NEWS 1130) – Surrey RCMP confirms to NEWS 1130 one person is dead and another is in the hospital after a two-car crash on 100th Avenue in the Guildford Area of Surrey near Green Timbers Park.
A news release by the Mounties says they responded to the two-car crash just before 8:15 a.m. and found people with injuries.
“Initial indications are that there are serious potentially life threatening injuries involved in this two motor vehicle collision,” reads the release.
Staff Sergeant Duane Honeyman says when police arrived at the scene, they found two cars on fire with people trapped in them. One of the drivers was dead on the scene, while another was taken to the hospital.
“We still do have one driver who was transported to a local area hospital [and] remains in critical but stable condition, but the driver of the second car was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision,” said Honeyman.
Traffic is shut down for 100th Avenue west-bound at 148th Street, and for all eastbound traffic at 144th Street. Police are advising people to stay away from the area.
