VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – If you live in a condo, there’s a decent chance your strata corporation has set rules surrounding the growth and consumption of cannabis.
Tony Gioventu with the Condominium Home Owners’ Association of B.C. says it’s simple: stratas need to adopt bylaws to ban types of consumption, or cultivation.

“Many strata corporations have already done this, but we still have stratas that are waiting for their AGMs this fall as they’re anticipating adopting new bylaws to do this,” he says.

Gioventu points out many stratas already have by-laws that ban smoking. Corporations will likely amend the by-laws to also ban growth, if that’s what they decide to go for.
“Really, what this going to come down to, is probably amending a bylaw that is going to prohibit cultivation, if that’s what they want to do,” he says.
Stratas that have already have they bylaws in place might take a restrictive approach, banning growth and types of consumption.
