VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It has been eight months since the legalization of recreational cannabis and Statistics Canada says more Canadians are taking advantage of their legal ability to smoke.
Statistics Canada has released figures tracking cannabis use since October, and found the rate of use has jumped from 14 per cent to 18 per cent – particularly among males.

At the beginning of this year, the average age of cannabis users was 38 years old, nine years older than it was in 2004. The data shows the average age steadily rising each year.
However, the rise in users doesn’t translate to smoking cannabis more often – the proportion of Canadians who report using it daily remained unchanged at six per cent.
