Some UBC student transit passes stop working after TransLink glitch

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Some University of British Columbia students had problems with their U-Pass on Tuesday, making it difficult to get to class.
UBC student bus passes are paid through tuition, but a glitch this week meant cards hadn’t been loaded.
TransLink spokesperson Jill Drews says they’re dealing with a technical issue and still working to resolve it.
“We found out about some issues with U-Passes loading onto Compass cards for some UBC students,” she says, adding there is a workaround to get it to work. “All students need to do is go back to the Compass website, un-link their card, re-link it, and then it should work.”
Drews says it can take up to two hours for the change to take effect.
It’s not clear how many people have been affected by the glitch, but it only appears to be impacting UBC students.
