Man dies after being shot by police in Lytton

LYTTON (NEWS 1130) — A man has been shot and killed by RCMP after a stand-off at a home in Lytton Monday.
RCMP say it started when officers were called to a home following a report of a man in distress around 8 a.m.
“The man was reported to be in possession of firearms, two other persons were inside the residence with him. Shortly after officers arrived, there was a report of gunfire, originating from the residence. No one was injured,” says a release from RCMP.

Police managed to get the two others in the home out safely, and a crisis negotiator was called
“The distraught man remained inside and negotiations continued. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. an interaction between the man and police resulted in shots being fired by police. The man was shot and has died,” the statement continues.
The Independent Investigation Office is now investigating, as it does in all incidents involving police that result in serious harm or death.
