VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — If you want Fluevog-designed Dr. Bonnie Henry shoes, you’re out of luck, for now.
They’re sold out.
The shoe went on sale at 4 p.m. Thursday, but as shoppers clamoured to make their purchases, the website crashed.
When the website was up and running again, eager buyers were met with a “Sold Out:Thank You for Your Support!” message.
The man behind the famous shoes, John Fluevog, says he’s thrilled by the response.
“I feel overwhelmed … we’re just not prepared for the volume,” he says.
Just got off the phone with the John Fluevog – He says he's overwhelmed – in a good way – that his shoe website is down – because too many people want to buy the Dr Henry shoe. He hopes it will be back up and running this evening @NEWS1130

Congrats to those of you who managed to get a pair of the Dr Henry Shoe. We are now sold out. We’re sorry for any stress caused — we clearly underestimated your enthusiasm — but are excited for the funds raised for @RealFoodBanksBC and promise to be better prepared in the future.

“We tried to prepare for it, but it was a larger response than we could have imagined,” he tells NEWS 1130.
“We first thought we’d do 200 pairs because we thought that would be a good number. But the responses kept pouring on social media, poking at us. The phones were ringing of the hook in stores.”
The shoes will be made in Portugal and are retailing for $339.
“The heel-maker heard about the cause and he’s donating heels. So this is a world-wide effort,” notes Fluevog.
He says after the factory costs are paid, the rest of the proceeds are going to Food Banks BC.
