Employee at Surrey McDonald’s tests positive for COVID-19, restaurant temporarily closes

SURREY (NEWS 1130) — A McDonald’s restaurant in Surrey near 56 Avenue and 180 Street has been closed down after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.

The staff member worked their last shift on July 1 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and reported they tested positive for the virus Tuesday.

“Out of an abundance of caution, McDonald’s Canada made the decision to immediately shut down the restaurant for a thorough cleaning and sanitation by a certified third party,” a release reads. “We are working to ensure our timeline to reopen happens as quickly and safely as possible.”

Other staff members who may have been in close contact with the crew member are being advised to self-quarantine.

For people who have questions, the restaurant is directing questions to the BC Centre for Disease Control by visiting their website.
