Burnaby fitness complex closing as Fraser Health region grapples with COVID cases

BURNABY (NEWS 1130) — Fortius Sport & Health centre in Burnaby announced they’ll be closing down their business operations, saying they can no longer sustain them amid the rising COVID-19 cases.

“The realities of trying to operate this complicated and dynamic business have been difficult. With the added pressures that the COVID-19 pandemic put on Fortius Sport & Health, and many other businesses, it became something we could no longer sustain,” a statement online reads.

“This will mean that at a date to be determined, we will be closing all of Fortius’ business operations,” a statement on the centre’s website reads.

All current Fortius services will continue at this time, and partners at FitFirst Footwear and Starbucks will remain open.

The complex is also a hotel that hosts teams and training camps which will be impacted by this announcement.

All clients and communities who use the facilities will be contacted about what next steps will be for the facilities and programs.
