Vancouver party host fined $2,300 for breaking COVID-19 order

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — The host of a loud house party in Vancouver has been fined $2,300 for violating pandemic-related public safety orders.
Police say it happened Saturday night in the downtown area after someone filed a complaint about noise coming from a unit in a condo tower.

When investigators arrived, they noticed several COVID-19 violations including party guests not wearing masks and sitting too close to each other.

As a result, the main occupant has been issued a ticket.

The Vancouver bust happened one night after police in Kamloops took similar action against the host of a poker party who refused to shut down his party.

Kamloops RCMP says the 37-year-old is facing charges of obstruction and he was fined more than $3,000.
The COVID-19 orders announced last week prohibit people from having any home gatherings with anyone outside “household or core bubble.” The restrictions are in place until Dec. 7.
