CACHE CREEK (NEWS 1130) — Thanks to a Good Samaritan, a 2,850-pound jade boulder that was stolen from a family-owned gift shop in Cache Creek has been found.
The mammoth chunk of mineral was stolen Dec. 19 from Cariboo Jade and Gifts in what Mounties described as a “late-night heist.” Ashcroft RCMP estimates the boulder to be worth anywhere from $20,000 to $50,000.

The gift shop announced the recovery of the boulder on Facebook Monday.
“We are so happy to have it back in one piece, although with a few scars from it’s adventure,” the post reads.
“Thank you to all of you who have been keeping an eye out and sending in tips, as well as kind words of sympathy and encouragement received from across the country. It is clear that this stone meant a lot to many more people than we realized.”
The post says an update on the investigation is set to be released Tuesday.
An earlier post to the shop’s Facebook page says the truck and trailer used in the theft were found on Dec. 22.
