TransLink helping fund 131 Metro Vancouver road and walkway projects

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – TransLink is giving local cities and towns a total of $125 million to upgrade, maintain, or build new walkways, bike paths, and roads.

The money is going towards 131 projects throughout the Metro Vancouver region, which translates to 2,600 kilometres of roads.

One of the projects will help the Township of Langley construct a multi-use pathway to better connect bike paths to the Golden Ears Bridge, Trans Canada Trail, and neighbouring cities. There will also be road improvements and new traffic signals installed near Scottsdale Centre.

“Whether you primarily walk, cycle, drive, or take transit – this vital funding from the Mayors’ Vision connects our communities while supporting safe and efficient transportation for us all,” said New Westminster Mayor and Mayors’ Council Chair Jonathan Coté.

Belcarra will also get money for construction of a multi-use path on Midden Road.
