Beagle, Roussel among Canucks players left unprotected in Expansion Draft

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Fans of the Vancouver Canucks are finally learning which player they might lose in the upcoming NHL Expansion Draft, with the NHL releasing the list of every team’s protected, and available lists.
The Canucks, like most every other team in the NHL, is being forced to give up a player, to allow the expansion Seattle Kraken to build a roster.
The Canucks have left a mix of veterans and youngsters on the unprotected list, including Jay Beagle, Loui Eriksson, Antoine Roussel, and Jake Virtanen, Madison Bowey, Matthew Highmore, Kole Lind, Zack MacEwen and Braden Holtby.

There weren’t many surprises on the Canucks ‘protected’ list, which includes the team’s biggest and brightest stars, like Elias Pettersson, Brock Boeser, JT Miller, Nate Schmidt, and the newly acquired Jason Dickinson.
The team snagged Dickinson from the Dallas Stars on Saturday in exchange for a third-round pick in this year’s draft.
Described as a defensive forward, the 26 year old Dickinson has spent his entire career in Dallas.
Last season, he recorded seven goals and 15 points over 51 games.
Dickinson, 26, appeared in 51 games with the Stars in 2020.21, registering 7 goals and 8 assists (7-8-15). Over the past six seasons with Dallas, Dickinson has collected 63 points (25-38-63) and 64 penalty minutes in 221 career NHL games.

Over 221 career NHL games, the centre has posted 25 goals and 63 points.
The Georgetown, Ont., native was the No. 29 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft.
The Kraken will make their selections on Wednesday.
