VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — A Vancouver police officer was found guilty of sexual assault Wednesday.
Jagraj “Roger” Berar, 51, was charged in November of 2019 after a months-long investigation by the RCMP. According to a statement released at the time, the assault happened in Whistler in July.
“During the course of the investigation, it was learned that the subject of the complaint was a serving Vancouver Police Department member,” the release said.
“The RCMP believes this was an isolated incident involving persons known to each other. Police do not believe the allegations are related to his employment as a police officer.”

A spokesperson for the BC Prosecution Service says Berar is next due in court on Jan. 6, 2022, at which point a date for sentencing will be set.
The spokesperson would not comment on the relationship between Berar and the victim, but it has been reported that she was a fellow officer.
