‘Never been so scared in my life’: B.C. woman’s home damaged by meteorite

GOLDEN (NEWS 1130) — A Golden resident has quite the story to tell, saying she woke up to a piece of a meteorite crashing through her roof last week.

She provided photos of the fragment to The Golden Star. They show the hole in her roof, as well as the large piece which landed on her bed.

Photos provided to The Golden Star show the damage to her home, and a fragment of the rock which nearly hit her.

“The dog barked twice and then there was a big…what I can call explosion, that’s what it felt like, and debris all over my face,” Ruth Hamilton said.

“I jumped up, turned on the light switch, and there’s a hole in my ceiling right over my bed. I never received a scratch. Never been so scared in my life,” she said.

She says the insurance company has inspected the damage and now she’s just focused on getting it fixed.

Hamilton does plan to keep the rock as a memento of the very close call.
