Two people have been arrested in connection with a homicide in New Westminster Friday.
According to the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, a 31-year-old has been taken into custody and charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of 51-year-old Robert Powshuk.
Both men are from New Westminster, IHIT says, adding a second suspect also remains in custody, though investigators are “still determining that person’s involvement” in the death.
“There are no other persons believed involved at this time,” investigators say in a release, adding, “There is no further risk to the public.”

IHIT was called to the area of Columbia and Begbie streets Friday morning after a man who was bleeding heavily entered a Waves Coffee House, and died shortly after.
Investigators say the man, who has since been identified as Powshuk, was suffering from life-threatening injuries when he entered the coffee shop just after 6:30 a.m. While he was taken to the hospital, he did not survive his injuries.
No information has been provided as to how the 51-year-old was hurt, or any possible motive.
While IHIT says charges have been laid against one person, “the investigation is still in its early stages.”
