It was a chaotic scene on Barnet Highway Sunday, when a pick-up truck lost control and hit a TransLink bus.
Const. Sam Zacharias, Media Relations Officer for the Port Moody Police Department, says the impact sent the bus rolling into a deep ditch.
“The initial information suggests that there was a driver of the westbound pickup truck that lost control in the incoming eastbound lane of the highway and collided with an eastbound travelling bus,” he says.
We are dealing with a collision on Barnet Hwy / Reed Point where a truck lost control, colliding into a bus – the bus ended up rolling into a ditch.
Thankfully no serious injuries. The road is reduced to 1 lane at this time. Please use extreme caution as roads are very slick.

The crash happened just before 10:30 a.m. At the time, there was only one passenger on the bus, and that person had to use the emergency escape window to get out with minor injuries. The bus driver was not hurt in the crash.
Police say the collision flipped the GMC truck onto its roof, landing it in the oncoming traffic lanes. The driver of the truck also did not report any injuries.
First time I’ve ever seen that emergency escape window used! Crash this morn along the #BarnetHwy near the Reed Point Marina involving a transit bus. #BCHwy7A #PortMoody #BurnabyBC @TransLink @CityNewsVAN ??

Roads were icy and slick after days of snow and rain near the Reed Point Marina area where the crash happened.
Police say road conditions appear to have played a role.
Zacharias says police have responded “to numerous collisions involving road and weather conditions in the past week.”
Drivers are reminded to be extra cautious and mindful of weather and roads.
