UBC Okanagan security guard dies after assault on campus

A UBC Okanagan security guard has died after she was assaulted on Saturday.
According to police, officers were called to the UBC Okanagan campus at 5:55 a.m. after they received reports of an assault.
The 24-year-old security guard was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries, but she has since passed away.
“Upon initial investigation, it has been determined a man working at the university assaulted a security guard,” Kelowna RCMP said in a statement.
The suspect was identified and apprehended under the Mental Health Act. He remains in hospital and is could face murder charges.
