An early morning house fire in West Vancouver led police to discover what they describe as a “clandestine drug lab” on Monday.
The West Vancouver Police Department was called to assist the fire department at a house on Crestwell Road in the British Properties around 4:30 a.m.
“Once on scene officers discovered evidence to suggest a possible clandestine lab inside the home,” said a statement from police.
“Since obtaining a search warrant, investigators have now confirmed the presence of a lab, the scale of which is yet to be determined.”
One person was arrested, and later released with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
Const Kevin Goodmurphy says there is no ongoing risk to the public, but says these scenes can be dangerous.
“These types of labs can pose serious risk to not only members of the public, but first responders as well. Luckily, no one was injured as a result of this fire.”
