Vancouver Police have arrested a woman following another unprovoked stabbing with a hypodermic needle on the Downtown Eastside.
Officers responded to the incident around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, after a 41-year-old woman walking near Main and East Pender was assaulted by a stranger, who stuck a needle in her leg.
VPD arrested 27-year-old Kayla Elizabeth Kelly, who lives in the neighborhood. Kelly has been charged with assault with a weapon.
Police claim there is no evidence Tuesday’s attack is related to a similar stabbing with a needle that happened on the Downtown Eastside in October 2021.
