There will soon be a new face representing the BC Teachers’ Federation, one of the largest unions in this province.
The BCTF has elected Clint Johnston as president-elect. Johnston will take over for Teri Mooring as of June 30, 2022, when her term comes to an end.
Johnston will take over from sitting President @TeriMooring when Mooring’s third one-year term comes to an end on June 30, 2022. The BCTF has a long-standing practice that Presidents serve for a maximum of three years, although they must seek re-election each year.

2022 marks Mooring’s third year as BCTF, which is the maximum allowed by the union. Though there is a maximum of three, a president still has to seek reelection each year.
Johnston has been serving as first vice-president of the BCTF. He is also a vice-president of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation.
Prior to his work with these groups, Johnston taught elementary students in Chilliwack.
According to his election bio, Johnston lives in Vancouver with his family.
The BCTF says Carole Gordon will become the new first vice president in June when Johnston transitions to his new role. Robin Tosczak is second vice president elect, while Rick Joe has been elected to the Aboriginal seat for member at large.
