A 24-year-old driver has turned himself in to Abbotsford Police after a 38-year-old man was left fighting for his life after being hit by a vehicle Tuesday.
Dale Lylyk was struck near Hillcrest Avenue at Clearbrook Road, just before midnight. A video released by police does not show the moment of the collision but captures the driver backing up and driving away following it.
The vehicle is then captured at another intersection a short time later in the brief 30-second video.
Police later released photos of a suspect vehicle which they have since located.
Michele Lylyk took to social media to plead with the driver to turn themselves in, as she says her son Dale was left clinging to life in hospital.
She appealed for everyone to look at the vehicle in the video, adding her 38-year-old son has been left with extensive internal injuries.
She says after he was hit, he had to have two surgeries, and part of his intestine had to be removed. She says they are bracing for his next hurdle when his brain is expected to swell from the trauma.
It’s not clear if the 24-year-old suspect is currently in custody, and no charges have been announced.
