Two cougar kittens shot, killed in Vancouver Island: BC COS

Conservation officers are asking for any information that can help them find the person who illegally shot and killed two cougar kittens.

It happened in the Cowichan Valley near Hill 60 Forest Service Road earlier this week.

According to officers, the paws and heads of the kittens had been removed.

Under the BC Wildlife Act poaching wildlife is a serious offence.

It’s illegal to kill any cougar kittens or cougars in a family unit.

“The killing of cougar kittens shows a blatant disregard for ethical hunting and wildlife conservation,” said Duncan-area conservation officer Mark Kissinger.

“Thankfully, this is not the type of offence we see frequently,” Kissinger added.
