Wildfire in Belcarra Regional Park now ‘being held’

The wildfire burning in Belcarra Regional Park is now classified as ‘being held’.
Metro Vancouver says the fire, which broke out August 5th within the park boundaries near the Village of Anmore is not expected to grow.
An evacuation order for two homes, and an evacuation alert for a few dozen other properties has been lifted.
It’s not yet clear what sparked the fire, but investigators are looking into whether a downed power line may be to blame.
Crews will remain in the area over the coming days to put out hot spots.
The fire triggered a major response from multiple agencies, ranging from the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department, Port Moody Fire Rescue, Metro Vancouver Regional District, BC Wildfire Service, along with three helicopters.
Acting Mayor of the Village of Anmore Doug Richardson told CityNews, “The Village has activated its Emergency Operations Centre to help support the emergency response, and our staff are working to provide support to the community as needed.”
Richardson also said, “We’re a small team, but we will be doing our best to keep our residents updated, and we encourage you to share official posts from the Village and Metro Vancouver as the best source of accurate information.”
The Village of Anmore also confirmed no structures have been damaged or lost.
Buntzen Lake has also been closed until further notice by BC Hydro as a result of the wildfire.
