Burnaby Mounties investigate serious collision on Hastings Street

According to Burnaby RCMP a man has been taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a car on Sunday near Hastings Street and Sparling Avenue.

Mounties say at around 11:30 p.m. the 21-year-old man was crossing the street when a 2019 white Ford Edge travelling east-bound on Hastings Street hit the lone pedestrian.

The Criminals Collision Investigation Team has taken over the investigation, however they have not said if speed or impairment were factors.

Mounties say the driver of the Ford Edge remained at the site of the collision and is cooperating with the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who may have dash cam video while travelling on Hastings Street near Sperling Avenue in Burnaby from 11:00 p.m. to midnight on May 22, 2022 to contact the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.
