Right in time for a hot and sunny weekend, English Bay and Locarno Beach have been closed for swimming due to high E.coli levels.
The Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation announced swimming at both beaches would be closed until further notice.

Vancouver Coast Health (VCH) reported elevated counts of the bacteria at the two beaches.
A sample from English Bay found 1,785 per 100 mL, while a sample from Locarno Beach found 1,607 per 100 mL.
Their guidelines recommend a sample limit of less than 400 per 100 mL.
“The public is advised not to swim or wade in the water until the advisory is removed. Seniors, infants and children, and people with weakened immunity are the most susceptible,” says a VCH statement.
Trout Lake and Sandy Beach were closed earlier in the week.
