Cyclist in serious condition after collision in Richmond

Mounties in Richmond are asking for witnesses to come forward after a cyclist was hit in an intersection on Sunday.

Around 10:31 p.m., Richmond RCMP arrived at Steveston Highway and Railroad Avenue after reports of a collision with a cyclist.

“A white Nissan Rogue was driving Westbound on Steveston Hwy when a cyclist, heading North on Railway Ave, entered the intersection,” says a police statement.

According to Mounties, the cyclist suffered serious injures and was taken to a hospital where they remain as of Monday.

RCMP say that neither speed nor impairment was involved in the collision. Witnesses tell RCMP the light was green on Steveston Highway.

People who were in the area or witnessed the collision or have dash cam footage, is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2022-16833.
