Murder charge laid in Maple Ridge shooting

A man has been charged with second-degree murder after a shooting in Maple Ridge that left a woman dead.
Ridge Meadows RCMP were called Friday morning to a home on 119 Avenue near 226 Street, where they found the woman and man suffering from gunshot wounds. The woman, identified by police as 35-year-old Cashmere Ali, later died in the hospital.
The male victim is expected to survive. His name has not been released.
On Monday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced Justin Michael Waring of Maple Ridge has been charged with second-degree murder and attempted murder. Police say he was arrested Saturday without issue.
“Wareing is known to police and is believed to be a significant concern to public safety in the Maple Ridge area,” reads a statement from IHIT
Police believe this was a targeted shooting.
