Surrey shooting victim drives himself to hospital: RCMP

By Lesia Pogorelo

A man who was shot in Surrey Sunday evening drove himself to hospital, Mounties say.

The man was allegedly shot while in his vehicle — a 2016 white Honda Civic — while waiting at a red light in the area of Scott Road and 110 Avenue.

The RCMP says he showed up at a hospital in another community just after 6 p.m.

Police say they know the victim, but the motive of the shooting and other details are under investigation. It’s believed this was a targeted incident and the RCMP notes the victim has gang affiliations.

Few details are available about any suspects, though investigators say the vehicle they were driving is believed to have been a dark sedan.

“Investigators are asking for anyone who was travelling along Scott Road near 110 Avenue on Sunday between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. who has dash camera footage to contact police,” said Cpl. Vanessa Munn.

Anyone with information about what happened can contact the RCMP at 604-599-0502 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
