B.C. will officially have a new premier as of Nov. 18.
The province says NDP Leader David Eby will be sworn in as the 37th premier by Lt. Gov. Janet Austin at Government House.
Certain details, including what time this will happen, have yet to be finalized.
“The November break of the fall legislative session will be extended leading up to the swearing-in ceremony,” the B.C. government says in a release, adding Eby will meet the legislative assembly as the new premier the week after he is sworn in.
This comes after John Horgan resigned as premier on Wednesday.

Eby was asked by Austin if he had the confidence of the house to form government, which he said he does.
While speaking with the media after his meeting with the lieutenant governor, the new BC NDP leader acknowledged how unusual the transition process has been so far.
“Usually a government would adjourn a legislative session for transition to take place. That’s not what we’ve done. We have this session happening right now while the transition is also happening. So my goal is to be sworn in as premier and be able to sit in the legislature during this session to be accountable in that way,” he said.
Eby has previously outlined some of his priorities for when he becomes premier, noting public safety and housing as some of his key focuses.

The Vancouver-Point Grey MLA will become the sixth BC NDP premier. He became the new leader of the provincial New Democrats last week after his only challenger, Anjali Appadurai, was disqualified from the race.
The leadership process has come under intense criticism in the wake of the disqualification, as well as leading up to it.
