BC Ferries lets first responders ride for free to attend Cst. Yang funeral

BC Ferries announced on Friday they will be letting all first responders who are attending the funeral of Cst. Shaelyn (Tzu-Hsin) Yang travel for free.
As a sign of support, the company says first responders will get complimentary travel from Nov. 1 to 3.
“We want to show our support and appreciation for all officers and first responders in B.C. who work incredibly hard to keep our communities safe,” Corrine Storey, COO and vice president of BC Ferries said in a statement.
Yang’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the Richmond Olympic Oval at 11 a.m., according to B.C. RCMP.

BC Ferries says first responders attending the funeral will need to identify themselves to the ticket agents, by wearing their uniform or showing official ID.
“We work closely with all police services in B.C. through our terminals and vessels,” Storey explained.
“This is a small gesture to show we are thankful for their service.”
