Delta police called to three gang-related incidents in 72 hours

Police in Delta say officers responded to three incidents over 72 hours last weekend that they say are related to the ongoing Lower Mainland gang conflict.
On Nov. 3, police responded to shots fired near 92A Avenue and 117 Street in North Delta. Officers found a 22-year-old man with “significant” gunshot wounds. The victim is now recovering in the hospital, police say.
On that same day, as well as Nov. 4, Delta PD drug investigators searched homes in Richmond and Delta finding “evidence of a drug trafficking operation. Officers seized drugs, cash, and firearms, and arrested two people. No charges have yet been laid.

On Nov. 5, police received reports of a suspicious vehicle near Upper Canyon Road in North Delta, which officers determined to be stolen from Surrey.
“The patrol officers recognized that the contents of the vehicle indicated the car was staged in the area to be utilized for further criminal activity – potentially acts of violence associated with the current gang conflict,” a Delta PD release stated.
The department says a suspect was apprehended when he returned to the vehicle later that same evening. Police say the suspect was taken into custody for stolen property and firearms offences, adding charges have been approved.
“The arrests made in these events highlight the coordinated response between law enforcement agencies to target those involved in the ongoing BC gang conflict,” Delta police said.
