Vancouver police look for additional PNE riot suspects

Vancouver police have updated their list of suspects wanted in connection with a massive riot that broke out at the PNE in September, resulting in extensive damage to the park.

The VPD is now looking for an additional 15 people who may have been involved.

“With tips from the public, we’ve already identified several people who participated in dangerous and destructive behavior during the Breakout Festival riot,” said Const. Tania Visintin.

“Now, we’re again asking everyone to look hard at these newly released pictures to help us hold these additional suspects accountable.”

In addition to the 15 new suspects, investigators are still looking for three others whose images were previously released.

The riot broke out on Sept. 18 after rapper Lil Baby, who was supposed to headline the BreakOut Festival, cancelled at the last minute.

Images and videos posted online from the scene that night show attendees channeling their disappointment into destruction, with garbage bins being flipped over and structures being brought down. As tents were flipped over, some social media users said concert-goers even began stealing alcohol.

Witnesses have said the scene turned violent for some.

Police have said the riot resulted in more than $300,000 in damages.

Several suspects have already been identified after police released a “10 most wanted” list. The VPD previously said that hundreds of tips had come in related to the chaotic scene.

Laura Ballance, who speaks for the PNE, has said that out of the approximately 5,200 people in attendance, about 4,200 left the venue in an orderly fashion. Damage extended from the PNE Amphitheatre to inside Hastings Park and to the surrounding community, she added.
