Heavy Delta police presence near high school

A heavy police presence near Delview Secondary School in Delta on Monday was the result of an assault investigation, police say.
The Delta Police Department says one person has been taken to the hospital in “serious but stable condition.”

Police say officers were called for reports of an assault near Annieville Park that happened before noon.
For Awareness:
Heavy police presence in Annieville Park and surrounding areas due to an assault that occurred there.
One injury has been reported in what appears to be an isolated, targeted incident at this time.
Please avoid the area and note the investigation is ongoing.

Police say Delview, along with Annieview Park Elementary School, and Gibson Elementary School were all under hold and secure. The order has since been rescinded.
Callers have told CityNews that as many as 15 police cruisers have been seen in the area.
Some reports suggest that police officers were also spotted on the roof of the Delview school.
