Large, creepy spider installation goes up in Vancouver

If you don’t like spiders, you may want to avoid the area around Commercial Drive and Broadway in Vancouver.

A very big art installation has been installed under the bridge near the SkyTrain Station and if you haven’t seen it before, it’ll probably scare you.

It looks like the spider was put up earlier this week under the guise of darkness.

Images and video of it are posted to the Instagram page of a Montreal-based artist who goes by the name Junko Playtime.

An image of the eight-legged arachnid is posted to their social media with the caption, “Phobia. Time to face our fears.”

The piece has taken aback many commuters who take the SkyTrain and some have taken to Reddit to share their feelings.

“I hate it. Burn the bridge,” wrote one person.

Another person wrote, “The Australians are bringing their wildlife here!”

It’s unclear how long the art will remain up. The City of Vancouver tells CityNews it did not commission the artwork.

Junko Playtime recently posted images of another large, heavy metal installation in near the Bentall Centre in Downtown Vancouver.
