John Horgan has officially resigned his seat as a B.C. MLA.
This comes nearly half a year after he officially stopped being the premier — a move he announced months prior, citing his health.
Horgan has served as MLA for Langford-Juan de Fuca since 2005. He was leader of the BC NDP from 2014 until 2022, and premier from 2017 until 2022.

The 63-year-old said in a speech delivered at the legislature in February that he intended to step down as MLA in March.
He is now a two-time cancer survivor, saying in his speech that he is healthy and cancer-free following his 2021 diagnosis.
Horgan was the longest-serving NDP premier in the province’s history.
The Langford-Juan de Fuca seat will remain vacant until a byelection is called.
