Surrey motorcycle crash leaves 1 dead, another seriously injured

A 49-year-old man has died after a motorcycle crash in Surrey Thursday evening.

Surrey RCMP says at about 6:30 p.m., it received reports of a collision on Fraser Highway near 182nd Street.

Police say two motorcyclists rode east along the highway when they both lost control and hit the centre median.

The man was taken to hospital where he later died. The other rider suffered serious injuries, police say.

Mounties say while the investigation is still in the early stages, they have not ruled out speed or alcohol as contributing factors.

Police are urging anyone with information or footage of the incident to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2023-48956.
