Delta teen stabbed outside elementary school: police

Police in Delta say a 15-year-old was stabbed outside a local school Wednesday.

It happened on the grounds of McCloskey Elementary around 9:40 p.m.

According to police, the teen was found with stab wounds when officers arrived.

The child was taken to the hospital with injuries that have been described as non-life-threatening. Police say the teen “is in stable condition.”

The circumstances that led up to the stabbing remain unclear. However, investigators say it has been determined the teen was targeted. They add there are no links between this incident and “other high-profile assaults” around the Lower Mainland involving minors.

Investigators also say the stabbing has “no connection to the school.”

Police are now looking to speak with anyone who may have been in the area of 116 Street and 80 Avenue between 9:20 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. on Wednesday, April 12.

They are asking those with dashcam footage from that period, anyone who lives near McCloskey Elementary with video available, and anyone who may have seen anything suspicious, to get in touch by calling 604-946-4411 and quote file 2023-8339.
