On day six of the nationwide strike by federal workers, Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) members are moving their picket lines to strategic locations to try and get the attention of the federal government.
PSAC’s national president says the government’s latest offer on Saturday does nothing to advance the union’s wage demands.
The union is also fighting to enshrine other measures, such as telework, into the collective agreement.

In Surrey, CityNews caught up with a striking worker at the picket line.
“Personally, I think it just feels a little weird not working,” they said. “We have most of us are working from home, but just the fact that we’re not able to kind of go about our day to day lives.”
They explain the strike has impacted a lot of union members financialy, some more than others.
“I think a lot of people think that us government workers have really high salaries, but that’s that’s not the case,” the worker said.

Another PSAC member says they hope it gets resolved quickly, but with an agreement from both the union and federal government.
“I don’t think it’s fair that one side gets everything they want, but there has to be a middle ground. I’d like to see that happen sooner rather than later.”
The strike has caused Canadians concerns in regard to tax returns and travel, among other important things in day-to-day life.
