This comes after officers were called to a shopping plaza at David Avenue and Coast Meridian Road around 8 p.m. on May 17.

When officers showed up, they found a 37-year-old man with “life-threatening” bullet wounds and gave on-site first aid before transporting him to the hospital.

“This was a targeted incident in a highly populated area,” Ellis added.

“We are thankful that no one else was injured during this brazen early-evening shooting.”
